A Walk in the Son
This afternoon I just needed to get out into the fresh air and spend some time walking and talking and listening to the Lord. Sometimes it is the sweetest thing to get outside, go for a walk alone, and ask God to work on my heart and the hearts of those around me. To remove my sinful attitudes and motivations. To help me to get out of the way of what He's doing in my heart. I was able to spend about an hour walking. The Riley's live pretty close to the edge of town and I was able to walk only about a mile and was out in the country. I spent some time asking the Lord to humble me and to help me work out in my heart some of the inconsistencies he has been revealing to me. After this time of reflection and prayer I spent the rest of my walk being quiet and enjoying peace as I went and soaked up the beauty around me. As I neared the time I knew I needed to turn around I noticed a donkey and a handful of horses up ahead. I decided to get a little closer to the fence and see if they'd come closer so maybe I could feed them grass or pet them. The donkey came right over when I called and I spent a few minutes talking to him and feeding him grass. It was fun (I took a picture of the animals with my phone and sent it to my email address to hopefully post it on here, but it's not uploading right. Oh well!). After I had my fill of petting the donkey and feeding him grass I turned back toward home and ran a few minutes before I walked the rest of the way soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the cool breeze. So nice to get outside and exercise a little...and open my heart up to a little bit of a refreshed perspective. What a beautiful day it has been today both inside and out!
